We are a professional and appropriately regulated supplier with our own brand “Good For Health.” Lucuma is a delicately flavored tropical fruit native to the coastal valleys o Peru, with its high nutritional value it has been an important crop since ancestral times. It was once referred to as the Gold of the Incas. Some say it tastes like caramel custard and others a bit like pumpkin, its texture, unlike most fruits, is dry, quite starchy and with a paste-like consistency that melts in your mouth. The scientific name for this fruit is Pouteria Lucuma, it has an ovoid shape of about 5 to 8 cm long, green yellowish colour when ripe. Pealing its thin skin reveals a dry and starchy orange-yellow flesh. The process of drying the lucuma fruit involves a low temperature heatingprocess which helps to retain the integrity of the healthy benefits of the fruit. The dried fruit is then milled into a fine powder which retains all of the natural beta carotene and B-vitamins of the whole, raw fruit, making it an excellent, healthy choice of sweetener! Once dehydrated, the lucuma powder (or flour) is mainly sold as flavoring to be used in ice creams and other dairy products. One of the best purposes of lucuma is as a sweetener,it is a safe sweetening alternative to sugar for diabetics. Using lacuma powderis an excellent way to get a boost of rich antioxidants and B vitamins.The texture is similar to granulated sugar, but the taste is more reminiscent of brown sugar. It can be easily substituted for brown sugar in a 2:1 ratio. For every 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, substitute 2 tablespoons of lucuma powder for optimal results.
